How should I plan my first ski day in Livigno?
#Plan your first ski day in Livigno around one side of the valley: Carosello 3000–San Rocco or Mottolino–Teola. Choose a starting lift near your accommodation or lesson, and allow for a valley transfer if you want to change sides. Check current transport routes and service notices before travelling.
For your first morning, choose a starting lift that works with where you are staying, collecting equipment or meeting your instructor. Save exploring the other side for a point in the day when a transfer fits comfortably.
| Area | Names to look for | Planning tip |
|---|---|---|
| Carosello side[1] | Carosello 3000 and San Rocco | Check the starting lift nearest your accommodation or lesson. |
| Mottolino side[1] | Mottolino and Teola Pianoni Bassi | Use the exact lift name when arranging a meeting. |
| Across the valley[1] [2] | Town transport and the Skilink service page | Check the current bus route and service notices before changing sides. |
Save a piste map and a town map
#Skipass Livigno publishes separate ski and town maps. They solve different problems: the piste map helps you follow lift and run names, while the town map helps you place accommodation, meeting points and the journey to your starting lift.
Open the official maps page when preparing your trip and check the season printed on any download you save. Keep both maps easy to find on your phone, rather than buried among travel emails.

Plan the transfer before you click into your skis
#Livigno’s Freebus is the town’s free public bus service, with routes serving the lifts, centre and outlying areas. Skis and snowboards can travel with you. Use the operator’s route map to find your stop and the direction you need.
Check service notices as well as the map. At our 23 October 2026 review, Skipass Livigno’s Italian Skilink page displayed a suspension notice directing skiers to urban public transport. Check the latest notice and the current bus information for your travel dates.
If you change sides, decide how you will get back to your accommodation at the end of the day. That is a better plan than assuming your last run will finish beside your first lift.
A simple plan for your first morning
#- Write down your starting lift and any lesson or rental meeting point. Use names, not just a pin someone sent you.
- Check the piste map’s legend with everyone in your group and choose runs that suit the group. Follow the resort’s current signs and opening information.
- Agree on a named meeting point and a time before you split up. Include which side of the valley it is on.
- If you want to change sides, look up the transfer and leave space for it in the day.
Give the day a mountain view
#With the practical details sorted, a 3D map is a useful way to get a feel for the terrain. It adds the shape of the mountain to the lift and piste names you have been studying.
That is where SkiMap fits into your trip: explore the map, record the day and keep your group connected. Search the area you plan to ski and save your map before heading out. Our offline guide walks you through it.
